  • Production drops by 0.8% y-o-y in Feb’25
  • Dispatches drop by 4.8% y-o-y

Coal India Limited (CIL), the world’s largest coal producer and a Maharatna PSU, has disclosed its provisional coal production and offtake performance for February 2025.

For the period from April-February 2025 (11MFY’25), CIL’s cumulative coal production stood at 695.3 million tonnes (mnt), reflecting a 1.5% year-on-year (y-o-y) increase. This growth underscores the company’s ongoing commitment to meeting rising energy demand.

During the same period, total coal offtake reached 693.4 mnt, marking a 1.3% y-o-y rise, indicating stable supply performance. In February, CIL produced 74.1 mnt of coal, which represents a 0.8% y-o-y decline. Coal dispatches for the month were recorded at 62.1 mnt, reflecting a 4.8% y-o-y decrease.

Looking ahead, CIL may have revised its production guidance to 806-810 mnt from 838 mnt earlier due to lower volumes from SECL and BCCL, but the guidance is still higher by around 4% y-o-y from production of over 773 mnt in FY’24.
