Indian ferro silicon (70%) prices witnessed a slight decline of INR 700/t ($8/t) as compared to the previous assessment on 24 February. Prices edged down as sellers aligned their offers with Bhutan’s March prices of INR 100,000/t ($1,145/t) exw.
As per BigMint’s assessment on 3 March, ferro silicon prices in India were INR 100,000/t ($1,145/t) exw-Guwahati. In Bhutan as well, prices were same with a drop of INR 900/t ($10/t) w-o-w. Approximately 2,100 t of trades were concluded last week in both the regions within the price bracket of INR 100,000-100,500/t ($1,145-1,150/t) exw.

Bhutan’s offer determining price trends: As the norm goes, majority of the sellers both in North east India and Bhutan aligned their offers with the newly announced price from Bhutan at INR 100,000/t ($1,145/t) exw. However, offers remained steady m-o-m and in reference to it, a Bhutanese seller informed BigMint, “Market conditions are subdued currently as there’s no buying and limited acceptance towards higher offers as financial year is about to conclude.”
Another seller said, “We haven’t booked any quantity as two of our furnaces are under maintenance. Additionally, we also have pending orders to fulfill.”
China’s market scenario: Ferro silicon (Si:75%) prices in China were steady w-o-w at RMB 6,320/t ($868/t) exw-Inner Mongolia. The supply-demand dynamics in the market gradually improved, and further improvements are expected in the short term. Factory inventories also continued to decrease, which signaled a healthier supply-demand relationship.
Prices on the Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange (ZCE) for May 2025 delivery edged down by RMB 74/t ($10/t) w-o-w to RMB 6,138/t ($843/t) on 3 March.
Outlook
As the price has just been announced for March, it’s expected to stay in the same range in the days ahead. However, some slight variations are likely to be seen.
